Medical Director, HRIF Clinic/NICU

Organization: Alta Bates Summit Medical Center
Education: MD

I have a keen interest in the long-term outcome of premature babies. My experience includes over 29 years of clinical work in level I – IV intensive care nurseries. My primary clinical work has been at a community level III NICU at Alta Bates Summit Medical Center. I have participated in the full continuum of neonatal care for these infants and their families, and have worked extensively in the development of family-centered care and infant long-term neurological outcomes, this includes the clinical scenario that includes consultation with parents who are at-risk to delivery premature infants. I am the medical director and a founding staff member of the The High-Risk Infant Follow Clinic at ABMSC, this clinic has been in continuous service since 1992. I am also a founding member and current participant in our Family Advisory Council since 2011. The FAC meets on a regular basis to provide support for current families, and has been helpful to the professional staff to understand the needs of families of high-risk infants.
