Dr. Robert Castro obtained his medical degree from the University of California San Francisco and completed both a Pediatric Residency and Neonatal Fellowship at Harbor-UCLA Medical Center. He joined the faculty at Stanford University School of Medicine in 2009, leaving a tenured faculty position at the University of TX Health Science Center in San Antonio. He has been the recipient of numerous teaching and clinical awards, more notably the 2014 Southern Society of Pediatric Research Founder's Award. He currently serves as the Medical Director of the LPCH-Joint Venture NICU at Salinas Valley Memorial Hospital.
